Funding Applications

Our monetary allocation for clarification.

The Forum which includes the Committee is made up of volunteers. As such no person is paid any money for services rendered. They give their time and work for the community freely.

NB. All our Meetings are open Public Meetings, including Committee Meetings.

Committee meetings are held when necessary after a Forum meeting. An announcement is made at the Forum meeting inviting anyone to attend and listen to the Committee Meeting

We, Corringham and Fobbing Community Forum are allocated a sum each year by Thurrock Council; this money is held by the Council. NB. It is not held by the Forum.
Our allocation for previous years was  £11,200. We are permitted to apply for a % (£745) of this amount for administration costs (which is still the case).  However this funding has now ceased and we are in a position where funding is self gererated..
Any money spent has to be agreed at the meetings, which are open to ALL residents of Corringham and Fobbing.  This is normally voted on and is then published in the minutes that are published both on line and outside the library. This negates any accusation of a closed shop.

For practicality this is how Corringham & Fobbing Community Forum achieves this transparency.

  1. An application is made to the Forum
  2. .It is then later discussed at the next Committee Meeting and a recommendation is achieved.
NB. All our Committee Meetings are open to the public.
  3. The application is then put to a full open Forum Meeting for debate with the      Committee’s recommendation.
  4. The full Forum vote on the application and their decision is abided by. This is always recorded in the minutes.
  5. The Forum then fill in the necessary paper application to the Council for the project agreed. The application must fit the Councils criteria. If it does not, it will be refused. This process alone takes approximately one month.
  6. If the Council sanction the application payment is made to the Forum. If  VAT is involved then Forum can ask the Council to pay direct.

This on average takes 3 to 4 months to achieve. In an emergency a special Committee Meeting can be called, this could shorten the timescale to 2 months. This relies on the Committee’s availability but the same 6 steps above would apply.
