Current Projects
On the 3rd January a site visit of DPWorld's project of the dock at Corringham was arranged. The visit by Corringham and Fobbing forum was a great success. Unfortunately the blight on the day was the very wet and windy conditions. However that said I believe like me, it was an eye opener as to the actual size of the port. See the picture of those that attended,. I am not there as I was the one taking the photo's. But, as you can see, there are some smiling faces so it can't have been that bad.
Following the opening of the Adizone health project earlier this year we trying to follow up with adding lighting to the zone. It was belived in the first instance that this would be included, however it wasn't, so funding must be sought to complete the project.
Dated December 2012, we are still trying to source funding to facilitate the illumination of the Adizone centre. It is a project that the forum is adamant is necessary for both the safety of the users of this facility and that it is an all teat function and not for the “sunshine days” only. Cllr Phil Smith has attempted to achieve this but to no avail; however, we will strive to complete the project and will post any outcome as and when we get it.
The Forum has also approached Morrisons for help in funding the Winter Fayre trees (one outsie the Library and the other in Fobbing). This is still outstanding and I will update with any relivant news when available.
An update to Morrisons promise to fund the Christmas trees in Corringham and Fobbing is that despite several attempts by me, Morrisons refused to respond to any communication from me about the funding, However; after approaching London Gateway that have agreed to fund the trees. The update fro this is that Morrison's did not help with the funding. We did however get funding from DP world. Unfortunately, present owner of the location of the Fobbing Christmas tree has indicated that he no longer wanted either the tree or the planter so the tree has gone to St James Church in Corringham and we are trying to find a new location, preferably in Fobbing. I am in contact with Fobbing Friends in an attempt to resolve this for next year.
Unfortunately, it was not until the tree in Corringham, outside of the library, it was found that the wiring fitting had been vandalised. Despite the best efforts, it was concluded that the whole wiring circuit has to be renewed and this would not be possible for this year. The forum will endeavour to complete this in time for next year.
In the mean time, it is much appreciated the effort that London Gateway gave to the Forum and more important the residents of Corringham
The forum wishes to thank the Winter Fayre committee for all the work and effort they put into the Winter Fayre display this year. It was a spectacular success and a credit to all. It is important to remember that funding comes from the community at large. The various productions i.e. Barn dance and several tribute acts, raised ALL of the monies required. Next year will be no exception if we wish this tradition to continue, as I am sure we do. So a BIG, BIG thank you to all concerned. I shall be posting photo's of the event as soon as they are available.
